Three Dots is an evolving concept in lifestyle dressing based on the perfect execution of a simple idea. Co-founded by Sharon Lebon and John Ward in 1995 in California, the concept behind Three Dots was to create the perfect t-shirt – great fabrics, inspired design, fastidious construction and fit. Though this concept is sill the very soul of the company, Three Dots is now a $25 million company with a healthy and increasing distribution and an expanded product range.
In the beginning, the founders identified their niche by developing a distinguishable fitted t-shirt. After five months and thirty revisions, the first collection of ring-spun combed cotton tees was launched. Three styles, three sizes, twelve colors, the concept was an instant success. First year sales reached $1 million, and each year thereafter sales increased exponentially. While maintaining the core of the collection, a more fashion-forward attitude has been injected, with luxurious fabrications and styles.
Three Dots iconic trademark, the ellipses, is heat stamped directly onto the fabric, reflecting the products clean, minimal design. The sizes of the garments and differentiated by the colour coded dots. This clever labeling idea is matched by sophisticated design details, including their signature flat-locked stitch and is now recognized not only for its quality, but also for its innovative approach to casual basics. The collection now incorporates cashmere sweaters as well as knit and woven tops and bottoms in five sizes and a multitude of colors.
Pegan Anvarian has become the new Creative Director. After ceasing production of her namesake label last spring, Pegan conjured new items such as high-waisted skirts, capes and jackets to lure contemporary and young designer shoppers to Three Dots. A specialist in draping, she also plans to incorporate novel fabrics including double-knit jersey and stretchy tweed.
In the US, Three Dots has its flagship boutique on LA’s Melrose Avenue as well as having a strong presence in quality retailers such as Barney’s, Nordstrom and Fred Segal. Three Dots has showrooms in New York and Los Angeles as well as independent agents in Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas. Internationally, Three Dots has sale agents in Italy, the UK, Canada, Japan, Korea and Australia. Anchoring the company’s presence in Japan is the Three Dots store, located in the fashionable Daikanyana area.
With a core philosophy and a mood to explore, Three Dots continues to offer products that appeal to new and existing customers, building a company that is destined to last.
